24hr at Bhubaneswar-City of Temples

This post is very close to my heart coz to describe the place where i live is the most informative things you can get.

So lets start from the capital of the state, Bhubaneswar – being India’s first smart city
This place has much to offer to the nomads like you and me. From culture to cuisine there is everything you can get on a trip.

There are many places that are must to visit while roaming around be it the greatest war of mankind i.e Kalinga war which completely turned Emperor Ashoka surrendered war and accepted Buddhism which you can find in dhauligiri or be the temple of Lord Shiva a  55mts tall lingaraj temple known to be the largest temple.The best way to roam is by public transport but if you are on a budget only option to be left is simply to rent a bike/scooty.

A Quick Guide to Bhubaneswar Tour – What you see?

The best way to reach is by state transport bus service / in my opinion best option is to rent a scooter or bike for a day so that you can cover much of the place at your convenience on one day. Also there are many travel company that gives a day tour.

1. Udayagiri & Khandagiri Caves :

The most Ancient Odisha Architectural Wonders Among all the attractions, the 24-Tirthankaras Cave is the most enthralling caverns. Additionally, the Udayagiri and Khandagiri caverns contain the carvings of the twenty-four Apostles of Jainism on the grand stones.

  • Must See / Things to Do: Photography inside the caves is allowed so remember to click beautiful photos as a souvenir of your trip to Udayagiri and Khandagiri hills.
  • Timings: 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM

2. Lingaraj Temple :

Like Jagannath Puri Temple, Lingaraj Temple is likewise one of the most holy sanctuaries to visit in odisha. It is devoted to Lord Shiva called as Lingaraj. The statue is ornamented with delightful figures that have been cut on the apex.

  • Must See / Things to Do: There is a small temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagawati temple. It is located in the northwest corner of the courtyard.

  • NOTE: No camera is allowed.

3. State Museum :

  • Must See / Things to Do: The Epigraphic Gallery is a fortune trove of uncommon epigraphic records. This exhibition is additionally, most loved among tourists.

4. Nandankanan Zoo :

  • Must See / Things to Do: The most popular fascination of Nandankanan Zoo are its white tigers. Today, there are just about 34 of them, making the zoo one of the most dynamic conservers of the species.

5. Dhauli Buddhist Monastery :

8 km from the city center one can easily reach to dhauligiri- A Buddhist Pilgrimage Destination
Dhauli Hill is one of the picturesque and most visited Buddhist pilgrims in India.

 

  • Must See / Things to Do: The grand Peace Pagoda, which was constructed in 1972 by the Japan Buddha Sangha and the Kalinga Nippon Buddha Sangha.
  • Timings: 5:30 AM – 9:30 PM
  • Holiday / Closed on: Open on All Days
  • Recommended Duration: 45 Minutes
  • Entry Fee: No Entry fee

Not only that you can watch a light show at the evening at dhauli organized by odisha tourism in the at 6: 30 PM & 7:30 PM.
